"Now more than ever, we must build a strong,
united labor movement.  We invite all union locals
to join together to build an effective and powerful
Washington State Labor Council."

— President Jeff Johnson

AFFILIATION with the
Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO

Why affiliate?  For the same reason you belong to a union in the first place... In unity, we have strength.

As a union member, you have the strength of all your co-workers and other members of your union behind you when you bargain or negotiate over wages and working conditions. As an affiliated organization of the Washington State Labor Council, you have the strength of the entire labor movement in Washington state behind you. You will help control the collective power of the WSLC by setting our agenda. You will have a stronger voice in your community, among politicians and policymakers, and in determining the future of organized labor in our state.

The WSLC provides its affiliates many services, focusing on out core programs: legislative advocacy, political education, communications and organizing assistance. The WSLC also offers steward training and other educational services, research information, and more.

Your union should be affiliated with the Washington State Labor Council.  Not just because of the things we can do for you, but more importantly, to show solidarity with your Sisters and Brothers in the labor movement.  Together, we have the responsibility to protect and strengthen the rights and standards our predecessors fought so hard to attain for working families.

Never forget: "An injury to one is an injury to all."

For more information about affiliation, contact us at 206-281-8901 or toll free at 1-800-542-0904. Request an affiliation packet and find our more about how affiliation with the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO will help you strengthen and grow your union organization.
