Caitlyn
Jekel
WIA Labor Liaison
As WIA Liaison,
Caitlyn Jekel works to
find alternatives to plant closure and job dislocation, and when such
closures and layoffs can't be avoided, she helps the affected workers
access job retraining and reemployment program opportunities available
through the Workforce Investment Act and the Trade Adjustment Assistance
programs. She works closely with fellow WIA Liaison Bill
Messenger.
Before joining
the Washington State Labor Council staff in July 2010, Caitlyn was a
Workforce Investment Act Dislocated Worker Counselor at WorkSource Grays
Harbor in Aberdeen. She has been a member of the Community Accountability
Board at Community Youth Services, providing restorative alternatives to
first-time juvenile offenders, since 2007. She is a graduate of the
Evergreen State College and is presently completing her Master of Public
Administration there as well.
Caitlyn lives
in Olympia with her husband, Jonathan, a building maintenance worker for
the City of Tumwater, and their dog Reggie.
Although her position takes her across the state, Caitlyn is based out of
the WSLC Olympia office and can be reached at (360) 705-9469 or cjekel@wslc.org.
